as he was a man of oh-so-many names and trades.
But whether he be remembered now,
and forever,
as a too-cool-for-words Nightrider,
or hanging at least ten as a Crossfire,
then folkin’ it up as a Crosswind Singer
before later Bang-a-Gonging behind Bolan
plus, of course, bringing a much-needed sense of alt. vaudeville to F. Zappa’s most beloved family of Mothers
only to become a momentary Care Bear, Dirty Duck, Strawberry Shortcake,
need I mention Rhythm Butcher,
later DJ’ing by KMET-FM’s Fireside as well as touring the globe and elsewhere well into Century 21 with various Happy Together revues ‘n’ cruises
lest we neglect to commend his more recent detours towards academia as the highly regarded, oft degree-decorated and much beloved Professor Flo
I shall remember Mr. Volman today exactly as intro’d by his long-standing partner in rhyme Howie on a long-ago Kraft Music Hall as, and I quote, The World’s Only 250-pound Psychedelic Brillo Pad.
